The participation of foreign visitors in the festival is an
experience which they predominantly have by themselves. The
number of incomers with tourist groups is rather limited (figure
39). The visitors are distinguished from the type of organized
mass tourists by their special interest that has focused on getting
to know the local culture here. This characteristic is generally
observed in festival visitors because visitors attend festival-
type events and inherited or traditional celebrations owing to
their special interest in the event (Zeppel and Hall, 1992:69).
