yoktur. Aynı ücreti ödeyen herkes, güreşleri dilediği yerden izle-
yebilir. Deve güreşlerinde bayanlardan giriş ücreti alınmaz. Bu
uygulama bayanların katılımını teşvik etmeye yöneliktir ve gele-
nekselleşmiş bir uygulamadır.
Güreş sahası çevresinde yamaçlar üzerinde piknik yapanlar
ve kalabalık nedeniyle hareket etmek kolay değildir. Bu neden-
le bazı yerlerde yamaçların teraslanmasıyla ara yollar oluştu-
rulmuştur. Ancak son yıllarda konuyu daha titiz bir şekilde alan
yaklaşımlara bağlı olarak yapılan bazı düzenlemelerle güreş sa-
haları bazı yerlerde iyileştirildi. Örneğin Türkiye’nin en iyi sa-
halarından biri durumundaki Kuşadası’nda güreş alanı taş duvar
ile çevrilmiştir. Selçuk’ta ise yine geçmişin mirasını yansıtan ah- in the recent years. For instance, the wrestling ground has been

örneği oluşturuldu (foto 34). Kumluca’daki Karatepe Stadyumu
da, Türkiye’de deve güreşleri için yapılan tek stadyum duru-

kullanılan Germencik, Milas, Yenipazar sahaları da yapılan dü-
zenlemeler ile oldukça elverişli hale getirilmiştir. Fakat yine de
bu şenliklerin geleneksel ve kültürel atmosferine uyumlu olarak
tasarlanacak yapılara ve mekânsal düzenlemelere ihtiyaç bulun-
duğu çok açıktır.
A World Cultural Heritage: Anatolian Camel Dealing Culture and Camel Wrestles
around the wrestling fields are limited to the entrance gate, the
seats are available for spectators on the slopes covered with maquis
and weeds. Therefore, the spectators bring such materials of theirs
as cushions and portable chairs with them. There is no charging
according to the location of the place where the wrestles are
watched. Everyone who pays the same fee can watch the wrestles
from the place as he or she pleases. No admission is taken from
ladies at camel wrestles. This practice is aimed at encouraging the
participation of ladies and it is a traditionalized practice.
It is not easy to move around the wrestling field owing to
those who have a picnic on the slopes and the crowd. Thus,
byroads have been created by terracing the slopes in some places.
Nevertheless, the wrestling fields have been improved in some
places through some arrangements performed depending on the
approaches which have dealt with the matter more meticulously
encircled by a stone wall in Kuşadası – one of the best fields
of Turkey. In Selçuk, a good field example has been created
by utilizing the wooden railway crossties that again reflect the
heritage of the past (photo 34). In addition, the Karatepe Stadium
in Kumluca is the only stadium in Turkey which was constructed
for camel wrestles (photo 36). Besides, the fields of Germencik,
Milas, and Yenipazar, used merely for camel wrestles, have also
been made quite favorable through the arrangements performed.
Still, it is very clear that there is a need for the structures and
spatial arrangements to be designed in harmony with the
traditional and cultural atmosphere of these festivals.
